Should the Twins trade Joe Mauer?
I think that they should, they need a catcher who isn't hurt so much and will play everyday. He's a great player; he needs to play even if he has a little pain.
He's not the #1 Catcher in baseball. Jaason Veritek, Posada.... They ACTUALLY play EVERY DAY!
If he will play at another position, let's keep him. Catching will ruin him.

I have often said that catching is the most difficult position in baseball to play, you have to be able to hit, make the calls to the pitcher, catch a multitude of pitchers (look at Posada with NY... something like 22 different starters this year!) plus be able to watch for runners attempting to steal, take hits at home plate like no other (the Texieria hit on Posada last year comes to mind.... sorry I am a Yankee fan) and mentally keep the pitcher in the game, not to mention being on top of the game all of time... a postion that requires mental toughness as well as physical toughness, Mauer needs to buck up plain and simple. I bet Varitek and Posada have played hurt a few times before, trade him though? I wouldn't the kid has potential

No that may not ensue. I comprehend that they don't have all that plenty money to spend on huge time gamers yet they truthfully could desire to save mauer. it is why. he's a house city boy, he replaced into born and raised in Minneapolis so he will decide to stay there. usually the twins could desire to save him because of the fact they simply outfitted a clean stadium and that they desire a participant that the followers like and could pay to come again and notice. even regardless of the undeniable fact that, if i'm incorrect approximately that then the dodgers could have a solid hazard because of the fact they're interior the NL. yet i disagree that the dodgers have the ideal youthful expertise, the nationals and marlins have great youthful expertise and easily so do the braves. and that's in basic terms the nl (and the nl east easily) yet you in addition to could could prefer to element in that the twins could desire a considerable league waiting catcher. i don't comprehend if the dodgers have that to resign (or could be keen to resign). yet on the top of the day the twins are unlikely to commerce joe mauer

Are you high? Why would they trade; one of, if not the best young catcher in the game. Mauer is a hometown kid, will take less money to stay home and play in front of his family. A better question would be why haven't the Twins started getting Mauer more acclimated to 3rd base. That is where he should be; Nike Punto is not an everyday 3rd baseman Twins get a clue....

I don't think the answer would be to trade him at the moment. He won the AL Batting Title last year & is off of the DL now. His injury was an old high-school injury and hopefully there will be no reacuring problems with it. He's too loved in Minnesota for the Twins to trade him. And to answer anyone's question about why they don't get him started at another position, he has apparently said that he doesn't want to. He's been a catcher all his life and that's how he wants to end his career.

The only catcher who had as good of stats with a bat last year for catchers was Brian McCann. So no, he's a franchise player when he's healthy.

he has a big frame for a catcher, but he is still today's elite catcher. tek and posada are proven catchers from their careers, but joe is still young and getting better. many players start out injury ridden and go on to long great careers. let's just see, but you can't trade a guy as special as him and get his value's worth in return. first base is out for him in MN, but could be a great DH if catching doesn't work out for him

no way! local kid from St. Paul, and number 1 pick overall, he really only missed 1 full season due to injury...he played in 140 games last year, and 130 the year before, for a catcher that's a lot

hes the #1 catcher in baseball so no way this isnt fantasy he will get healthy and dominate next year and btw hes playing 2nite
