Please please solve: How much gas(in litres) will be produced at 0 celcius and 760 mm of pressure when 10g....
of oxalic acid was heated with concentrated sulphuric acid?

i mole of gas at 0 celcius and 760 mm is 22.4 L
10 g cooh corresponds to:
10g*(1mol (cooh)2/90g) = 1/90 mol of (cooh)2
at the end of the reaction it produces 1/9 mol co +1/9 mol co2+1/9 mol h2o
but water is not at gas phase
so it is 2/9 moles of gas
2/9 mol * 22.4L / 1mole = 4.98 L of gas

From the reaction compute the moles of CO and CO2 produced. Then use the gas law PV=nRT to compute the volume for n moles, where n is the sum of CO and CO2 moles.
Water is not a gas at 0 ºC and 760mm Hg (atm).

Can you put the states on the equation would make is a bit easier =p, because CO and CO2 are both gasses which one do you need to know and water can be in gas from reacting with H2S04.
