You need to keep down the Fn key and then press F5 until you get the display combination that you want. Make sure you have your TV on the right mode.

You need to change the input stream on the TV to the s-video.
On my TV, I simply press the INPUT button until I see the screen appear, which is on the "VCR-2" setting. You TV may differ.
Then, on the laptop, you have to switch to the external screen. Go to Start, Control Panel, Disply, and activate the external monitor. Sometimes there is a special key sequence on the keyboard that lets you do this.

You will need to tell your computer to send video out the S video port. This should be done through the video software or display properties. Make sure your TV is setup on Input and not the cable channels.

Not sure about video (I'm using s-vid and DVI-HDMI), but for audio you can buy a male 3.5 mm headphone to red/white RCA composite cable. just plug the headphone end into the headphone jack on your computer and the other ends into the corresponding red/white inputs on your TV. These cables cost likes $5 and under aat any electronics store. It will also let you play music from an iPod or other mp3 player over a stereo (no need to buy a $75 iPod dock with crappy speakers).
