need to buy a standard normal old style camera that takes the 35mm films. where can I get 1?

I don't need anything fancy like slr. Just a standard one that takes normal 35mm film. Basicaly its for someone from abroad and digital is too expensive for them and where they live 35mm cameras are still the norm and only proffesionals and enthusiasts invest in digital cameras. Plus he needs it as cheap as possible as its supposed to be a gift for someone and he can get one there for the equivilant of just over £10 or so. its just to show that its a gift from UK to look good. dont ask I diddn't quite get the logic behind this either. Have seen one in woolies but its online and ordering would mean postage and so it takes it up to £13 so might go for that but I was wondering if theres anywhere else or even local (coventry district) where I can either save on postage or the price inc postage is cheaper than woolies.

Thanx.

Have you tried Boots or Argos or do you have a catalogue like Freemans or littlewoods.

Oh you'll be fine with the Canon. Since you're moving from an AF/AE 35mm SLR it's just like getting a new car and not knowing where the buttons and knobs are any more. Photography skills can't be lost, so you should be able pick things up after reading the manual. Only a couple of things may be different: - Multi point autofocus - 'film' now lasts over 300 shots between changes. - And you can see the result of your photo instantly. - Less confusing metering system. But pretty much everything is the same except improved from before and buttons have been moved elsewhere.

Hunt on Ebay for an Olympus Stylus Epic.

Not only should it be within your price range, but it's a darn good camera that's easy to use and is also water proof. Back in the film days, many pros would have one of these stuck in their pocket to use along side their SLRs.

For this price, I would avoid ebay. Try either a local pawn shop or a car boot sale. You could also try a 'proper' camera shop - they may have a trade-in that is virtually worthless, but which was taken so as t give a discount on a new camera.

Charity shops often have cameras, no postage like e-bay !

    Good luck

london camera exchange, they deal with 2nd hand.

They are dotted all over the place, and have some good stuff.

I took my nikon F301 there and a canon sureshot compact.

Go on line and look up whats nearest to you.
