Hi, I'm looking for a good name for a business in yacht (boat) finishing..any ideas?
My friends is starting up a new business in marine finishing, which is basically boat, yacht cleaning, polishing.
He's looking for a name like 'marine finishes' or something like that... we would be very grateful if you could come up with a good name??? Thanks very much. : )

How about "For Sail." or "Ship Shape." or "Barnacle Busters." or "Clean boats R us." "Popeye's Proop Polishers."
or, oh I give up

I spent yesterday washing my boat and removing muck and scrubbed places and stains. And I have real trouble getting it all off. So, yes, I am absolutely interested in someone who has the expertise, materials, tools to make this painless for me. But "marine finishes" is soo boring. I would never choose that company over someone with a more interesting name, though the answerer makes a good point about building a reputation - knowing how hard it is to get a good result, I want to see a sample of your work before I lay out cash. How about "Boat Magic" (slight tweak of our rigging man's name)? How about "Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion"? How about "The Boat Valet"? How about "The Boat Butler", and then have a sideline stocking up people's boats on a Friday for the weekend.

Picking a name is serious, as it will stay with your business. Something so people know exactly what you do is important. Humorous names can turn off very conservative people, but maybe you want to have clients with a sense of humor?

Marine Finishes is pretty good, I'd stick with that, or how about Petit Poisson (little fish in french) I think it has a certain ring to it - however that has nothing to do with your business really. How about Boat Healers, or Marine Manicures (a little girly for you maybe)... nope I'm stumped. Stick with the original name!

There is a well know saying.
'Ship shape and Bristol fashion'
Which referred to the reputation the Bristol port built up for excellence in all aspects of seaman ship and sea worthiness for vessels and best practise. Most people know it even if they don't know where it comes from and recognise it means things in perfect order.
Ship Shape
or if that's to obscure for these days.

I've been 'finishing' (as well as everything else in boats) for more years than I would care to admit to! So how about: GirlyShine!?

For the more adventurous you could try,
(Clinkers on your bottom, Not anymore) or
(My bottom is cleaner than yours)or
(A super clean bottom = a faster boat)

What about Clean Rs Us - now that could mean cleaners are us or something else related to bottoms.
