Typical Wedding Ceremony 'agendas'?
So, I'm getting married in August aboard a cruiseship which means the majority of the wedding planning is done by the cruiseline. However, we need to decide if we want anything special done at our ceremony. Having only ever been to one or two weddings in my life, I really don't have any idea how a typical wedding ceremony goes...the order of events.
Would appreciate a clear vision of what I can expect (keeping in mind I do realize all ceremonies are different, I just want a description of a typical wedding).
Thanks a million!!

After bridal party walks in, it usually goes
Father giving away bride
Introduction done by Pastor, Reverend, officiant
Then the order varies from wedding to wedding. It might be a song, hymn, poem, etc.
Vows
Kissing of the Bride
I'm assuming that you're not having a religious ceremony so the ship expects you to tell them if you're having someone read a poem that means something, do a lighting of a unity candle for close deceased relatives, or something along those lines.
If its not a religious ceremony its usually pretty fast. Bridal party walks in, introduction & vows, introduction of the couple.

I'd say about 20-30 minutes. Some church ceremonies are longer because they include a lot of prayer, singing, ritual, etc. The longest ceremony I've attended lasted about an hour, because they had a slideshow (before the actual ceremony), a religious ceremony with multiple prayers and hymns, unity candle lighting, and a friend of the bride plus the brother of the groom performing songs.

Guests sit, grandparents are walked in, parents are walked in, wedding party enters, bride enters, vows, unity candle (if you want), kiss, announce formals names to be used (I know introduce for the first time Mr. & Mrs. John Smith or John and Jane Smith), bride and groom leave, bridal party leaves, family leaves, guests leave. Bride, groom and families line up to for a "receiving line" to thank guests on their way out of the ceremony or into the reception.
