  • How long in advance should we start preparing?

My husband and I are talking about getting pregnant for the first time! We're aiming for a due date of Aug/Sept '09 (I know summer isn't going to be great being prenant but it works best for us, school, jobs, etc). I've been starting to do some reading about being pregnant, healthy eating, etc but I really haven't come across much that talks about the months leading up to the pregnancy.

So, I'm wondering how much time it normally takes to prepare. I'm on the pill so I'll have to stop taking that. I've already started to get more physically active and eating healthier. But what about things like doctors appointments and other things that should be done prior to getting pregnant. Any suggestions or thoughts on how we can prepare prior to getting pregnant would be great. Thanks a lot!!

  • Visiting Nova Scotia?? Law introduced to prevent people from smoking in cars with children under 19!!?

Just thought I would pass along to anyone traveling to Nova Scotia, Canada that if you are driving a car with a child under the age of 19 and you are smoking, you stand to be fined. Nova Scotia is the first province in Canada to introduce this legislation...and is one step closer to making NS a healthier place to live.

Anyone know of similar legislation that may take affect in your area??

  • Is this a miss deal or does the hand stand (Texas Hold'em)?

Okay, so it always seems when I play no limit hold'em situations always arise that we argue about what should happen.

Here is the situation from last night.

The cards were dealt out and one flipped over...so as rules state this was just used as the first burn card.

Play goes on and Player 1 gets a straight, Player 2 gets two pair.

Player 1 starts pulling in the winnings when Player 2 questions if the dealer burnt and extra card before turning over the flop.

They had...which means the cards would have been slightly different...probably preventing Player 1's straight.

Player 1 having won automatically says "no, the hands over, it doesn't make any difference." Player 2 says "I think it's a miss deal...the chips should go back and new hand played".

Player 2 gives in and play moves on.

Player 1 is actually quite a jerk and we hate playing with him but was he right? or was Player 2 right? I really don't know what whould happen in this situation. thanks.

  • Typical Wedding Ceremony 'agendas'?

So, I'm getting married in August aboard a cruiseship which means the majority of the wedding planning is done by the cruiseline. However, we need to decide if we want anything special done at our ceremony. Having only ever been to one or two weddings in my life, I really don't have any idea how a typical wedding ceremony goes...the order of events.

Would appreciate a clear vision of what I can expect (keeping in mind I do realize all ceremonies are different, I just want a description of a typical wedding).

    Thanks a million!!

  • Has anyone been married on a Royal Caribbean cruise before?

I'm getting married on Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas this summer and was wondering if anyone had experience or advice about RC weddings. I have a wonderful travel agent who has been helping us out a lot but I'm worried I might be forgetting something. Is there anything that you would have done different? Thanks everyone:)

  • Vets and Breeders - Here is a poll about Pet Foods...Need your answers.?

As a Pet Nutritionist, I spend a lot of my time trying to educate people about the misconceptions/lies/myths/etc in the pet food industry. I often criticize vets and breeders for their lack of knowledge when it comes to pet nutrition (I'm just being honest). However, more and more these days there are vets who are focusing on nutrition and preventative medicine. My question to you is "What do you consider to be the best QUALITY food and why"? This will allow me to judge if most of you are now focusing more on nutrition or if there is still a long way to go to ensuring our pets are receiving the best possible nutrition. Points will go to the person who shows that they have consider nutrition in the foods they recommend and can justify their choice

  • How much time do the Yahoo! Answers leaders spend on the Yahoo site a day?

I check Yahoo most days and answer a few questions here and there but only have a couple hundred points. How does someone rack up more the 90,000 points?!! Do these people have a life away from the computer?

  • Why do people listen to the food advice of their vets?

Vets receive little to no training in pet nutrition but do recieve a nice sum of money from pet food companies to sell their products. Vet prescription diets should never be fed on a regular basis as they have cancer causing preservatives, fillers, etc. in them. So, I need suggestions on how to convince pet owners that they need to do the research themselves and challenge thei vet when they try to sell them a specific food. I've started my own pet food business selling Innova and need to get the word out that is a superior product.
