If your optical drive is a DVD-+RW,
Yes.
If your optical drive is a CD drive or a CDRW drive,
No, you cannot.
If your optical drive is a DVD drive,
No, you cannot.
You will need to have a physical DVD Burning drive installed in your computer, and the software to operate it installed on the computer to burn to a DVD-R

Use the software that came with your DVD burner. or you can download DVD Ripper software from the net that works pretty good. I like DVD Ripper Pro for most things.

You need some DVD burning software like Nero.
Create a 'data' disk in the buring software you are using.
