Homeschoolers.......does it bug you?
ok, I know I asked a question before about how to make friends and I answered one about the same subject. I dont understand why ppl have such a problem with Homeschoolers....We are socialized...I go to church, I just havent made friends yet.
And like when ppl ask you if your Mom or Dad gives you all the answers to tests and everything......
Just voice your opinion...and hear me out...
PLEASE READ the question before answering...not just "Im homeschooled"
Thanks
I just dont understand why ppl think that Homeschoolers need to "be social"
Im talking on here....I can talk to old ppl, ppl I hardly know....We are all learning the same things...right?
Because if you are saying we need to be Social, then you want us to go to highschool and do something we will regret?
I think homeschoolers are plenty social. Well, even pubic/private schools are out for the summer....does that mean that they are not being social right now????
excuse me DJ.....I WILL make friends....eventually. Anyone who has ever moved as a teen.....I highly doubt you had great friends after 3 weeks. So, I dont have friends right now...but I have my sister, parents and Jesus. That is sufficient for me right now.
I am so happy to hear that other people out there are feeling the same way, and CHRISTIANS!
THIS IS SO AWSOME!
GOD IS REAL

I agree that a lot of people have a bad and wrong opinion about home schooling..a lot of people who let their kids home school don't have their kids on a tight schedule, and so the kid's are not challenged enough. I have home schooled our 3rd son and he's in high school now. We used the Christian based curriculum's workbooks and texts....the stuff they won't teach in public school!
He is now attending an on-line high school, and so he still gets to school at home, but he will get a public school degree and will have credits to attend college and university.
Home schooling the elementary years were a lot of fun, and it was easier for him to make friends because we participated in field trips, and the home school association events, and church youth groups, and Awana...Jr. High was a bit more difficult because the friends attended public school and made new friends there....high school has proved to be the most difficult to be social because the work load is heavy and when our son does have free time, his friends don't....
The best thing is to join a sports club, like YMCA, and take the classes for home school, or participate in martial arts classes, or Boys and Girl's Club sports...You can also use your local school to participate in their sports programs, music programs, and any class really...You can also opt to take music classes from a private tutor...
With all this said, remember that one good friend is worth 1000 false enemies!....
If you want to pen pal (computer pal) with my son, pick me and I'll hook you guys up so you can talk....Happy Day and KEEP LOOKIN' UP!...Home school children get the highest test scores and entrance exams of all students!....that's the best part!!!
P.S....When people tell you that you need to learn to Be Social in Public School, tell them, "I don't need to live in the sewer to know it stinks!"...Kids in school learn how do drugs, have sex, etc...I don't think any of that will help you further your education, and advance in life....
P.S.S...YOU ROCK KID~!~
Global Warming and George Bush have nothing to do with home school but the person who said you are being brain washed has been indoctronated, and more than brain washed, they have been lied to.....too late for them but not for you!!......The most important part of learning is knowing the TRUTH and I am proud that you are not afraid to PROCLAIM that with JESUS all things are possible!...

I was homeschooled from the second grade until my freshman year of highschool, where I was enrolled in a private school.
So...does it bug me? If you are asking about the generalizations made about homeschoolers, yeah...it bugs the hell out of me!
Even though I was homeschooled, I actually spent MORE time socializing with my friends because of the lack of time spent in a classroom. (Please don't hear me say that I never did the work...I did...but I was able to do it faster that I would have been able to in a public school)
I have gained the ability to make friends with people of all ages, races, gender, sexual orientation...
I resent the though that all homeschoolers are cave-dwelling ultra-conservatives with no social life...
Though this is true of a VERY FEW homeschoolers, the majority of them are well-adjusted (more so than "normal" kids), nice, polite, fun individuals who have a lot to contribute.
Yeah, it bugs me. It bugs me a lot...but I just go about my life and prove them wrong.

I was also homeschooled...Yeah it bugged me a bit that people had a problem with me just because I wasn't in an actual school but you know, now that I've graduated it doesn't bother me because when people ask me about where I went to school(i was homeschooled through a christian academy&i got to have a real graduation with other kids that were homeschooled through them),I jsut smile and say I put myself through my last 2 years of high school BY MYSELF!I didn't have any help with my school work and I graduated with honors,I was salutatorian.Sorry to get off topic but the point is that you just have to learn to ignore people that have problems with you;it's their problem not your's.

Hi, I was homeschooled last year. I am a Christian too =]
Yes I agree 100% with you. Some people just think that homeschoolers are "In a shell" and we have no idea what is happening in the world. Or if we dont have the latest fashion we are "wierd".
I can be your friend =]

I'm now not an advise, precisely, however I'm now not a squisher, both. The simplest matters I kill out correct are the ones which can be hazardous (wasps, hornets, black widow spiders, and so forth) and mosquitoes. Oh, and ticks, however I suppose that is comprehensible. I am truthfully fearful of spiders however my mother not ever killed them, so I've simply gotten into the dependancy of scooping them up and environment them external. I'm well with insects, so long as they do not hassle me an excessive amount of.

Argh!!! yes!!! Ok, it's so gay that people think homeschoolers are unsocialized and stupid. I mean I have like...TONS of friends, and we are all very close and it is just so awesome. I don't know what I'd do without em.
But it is so freakin lame when people just act like because they go to public school that they are cooler or better. I'm like, just shut the freakin heck up. I know that sounds rude, but I don't really give a crap. And ok so I know alot of homeschoolers dress totally prudish and dorky, but some of us *ahem*, me, like to dress at least NORMALLY. I mean I've seen public schoolers that don't even measure up to the fashion sense that me and some of my friends have. So whatever. I just say if they don't like us, that's their loss.

Hi. I have been home schooled all my life too. and I do hate it when people are that rude. home schooling is not shutting a kid off from the rest of the world, but opening it up. this is my story on homeschooling...
it is a wonderful opportunity for both the parents and the child. I was home schooled all my life up to now (dual enrollment 11Th grade/college). home schooled kids have a lot fewer problems than most public schooled kids. we make Friends very easily, we get along with most people because we are not raised in "cliques" like most kids. in MOST cases we have BETTER social skills than public schooled kids because we get to be around a lot more types of people. my parents made sure that we got out in the community, went on field trips (home school groups, 4-H, and many other community clubs), spent time in museums, got to talk/know the directors of at least 3 museums (2 of which I still have contact with, great home work helpers), and we were exposed to "real life" every day. while public schooled kids were reading about sea turtles we were touching them and talking to a Marine biologist. while public school kids were studying the civil war we were reenacting it, you get the idea... my dad is a college math teacher too, so from the academic side we are well educated. One thing I find very funny is that I started college 2 years early and I am in more advanced classes than 95% of the high school grads from 2006. I also have 5 friends from my home school group that started 2 years early with me. in home schooling I was not exposed to drugs, alcohol, school shootings, racism, and a world of other problems that public schooled kids have. I did get real life experience, a great education, am not in any way racist, don't do drugs, drink, or go shooting people I don't like.
do not listen to any one who says that home schooling is bad for kids. it is not. I am living proof. I have great social skills, and lots of friends. another option to homeschooling kids aged 16 and up is dual enrolment at the community colleges. all those classes are free, but you have to pay for books. my mom orders my books on line, and found one book for $5 when it costs $125 from the school bookstore.
I want people to see the "real story" on homeschooling.. many have the idea kids are locked in their house studying 8 hrs a day. this is not true at all.
how is sitting in a room with 40 other kids that were born within a year of you the "real world"? where in the "real world" will you be in that kind of situation? it has not been "easy" but not really that hard. I am way ahead of most people my age, and it is all because I was homeschooled.
I also got accepted into a Christian leadership camp this summer. out of 6000 applicants only 900 were accepted and I was one of them. I will be spending 2 weeks this summer with 900 other teens who share the same love for my God and who want to serve Him.
My life as a home schooler.
Jesus, my Lord, my God, my ALL

I was homeschooled as a child, and yes, I have heard some rude comments as well. Try to find a homeschool co-op to join or something; you can socialize with other homeschoolers! They are great!

hey, i go to public school and like it, but that's not my point. i think being homeschooled is fine. i see no problem with it. studies show that you lucky ducks may learn more. the downside is that you don't get the benifit of group discussion. i think it's fine and a great experience. i would love to try it out for a week or two. you guys rock!

Evangelical Christian here.
Proud owner of a GED, because I was home schooled.
You cant let that stuff bug you. Part of being a christian is being proud of how God made you. And I know it so hard to hear stuff like that, you are who you are for a reason. God made you the way you are. So just shurg that stuff off. God's on your side, ok buddy?
