Which city should I choose: Detroit, Chicago, or Cleveland?

I'm twenty-five years old, gay, male, single, and pretty much a typical young guy who's itching to get out of his home state of Texas. I've graduated from the University of Texas with my B.A., and I have a fairly solid resume with six years of management and accounting work behind me.

I've been to all three cities in the last few years, and I liked each one enough to consider relocation. I'm leaning heavily towards Chicago, but I want some more input before I make a decision, start making serious efforts at employment and housing, and break into my savings.

Personally, I love Chicago. The only problem with this is so do many other people, which results in high housings costs.

According to Sperling's Best Places, the median home cost in Chicago is $424,700, while in Cleveland it is $99,100 and in Detroit it is $99,800. You would be more likely to make more in Chicago, but the housing costs may leave you paying a higher percentage of your salary to rent or mortgage payments than another city. There is always the possibility of living in suburban Chicago to cut down on housing costs.

I am neutral about Detroit, but do not care for Cleveland.

If money isn't an object, definitely Chicago. If you have concerns about money, I would be open to considering a few more cities such as Indianapolis, Louisville, or Columbus.
