Well he has won 7 Cy Young awards, has a 349-178 win loss record, and he has been pitching in the major league longer than I've been alive, but I have to say I still don't think he is all people seem to think he is. He's good even one of the best it pains me to say, but he is nearly 45. I know that doesn't necessarily mean he can't be effective or even great but in my opinion he brings more bad than good. He tells a team when he plays, when he comes to the ballpark, and complains about carrying his own luggage at the airport. The Yankees need something and they don't mind paying the price and dealing with the attitude and it seems to have given them a boost, so I guess he's right for them right now. There are a lot of good things about Clemens and his resume is very impressive but it isn't 1999.

Not only does his ability make him an asset to any team, just being in the clubhouse is going to make an impact. Andy Pettite, Wong, Phil Hughes will gain from the experience and work ethic he comes with. Same feeling about having Don Mattingly on the bench with Torre. I don't believe he is a great coach but I do believe he has a certain motivational presence.

at his age he is still doing things that some pitcher will never do. he's in his mid-40's and still throws a 90+ mph fast ball and at times an unhittable splitter
