Well there are loads of medical schools in Ireland. But sadly it very hard to residency in Ireland. Foreign students can go to medical schools there. But if planning to work there after medical school you find it very hard to get a work visa if your not an EU citizen.

Countessa is correct. I just returned from a study abroad session in Cork. If your goal is to stay on in Ireland after finishing school you'd have to apply for a visa in order to work. Just being a student isn't enough to establish any kind of residency that could build you towards citizenship. There has to be some work aspect to it, and the Irish gov't has to be OK with you taking a permanent job there (make sure you're not taking a job away from an Irish person). As for the medical schools there, they are top quality, in particular UCC. If your plan is to eventually return to the US though, I'd reconsider medical school in Ireland just because of all the extra hoops you'd have to jump through to practice in the US.
