In the end it is not them who needs to live with the person, it is you. So if you can live with and not live without this person, then that is your choice

I married somebody my mom did not approve of and now I think she loves him more than she loves me.

Absolutely I DID !!!! Im from the south and way back in 94 when my husband and I got together my parents FLIPPED THE F*** OUT!!!!! Im white- he's black, but here we are 13 years later with 2 beautiful boys and still as in love as ever. It was very hard though but we knew we loved each other and still do!! now my parents see that. It does not work for everyone though. You have to be sure how you really feel and arent just rebelling. And no I was not preg./ our oldest is 8!

Who I wouldn't marry is someone they did approve of. My super conservative parents would only approve of a man that would "keep me in line" and make sure I knew "a woman's place is in the home".

Um, no thanks. I have a man who views me as equal- not merely a maid and baby-making machine.

Of course, my parents keep trying to get rid of him... even though he is absolutely incredible. All they see is the crucifix he will never wear, and his "sinful" views on women's rights.

Yes and I did when I was younger... But after we got married they were happy. I think it was more fear on their part that I would change..Neither of our parents approved of us marrying due to religious beliefs

That person is making what hopefully is a decision that will last a lifetime....it is of no concern of parents, family or friends. That noise is needless drama when love & respect are on stage with a couple.

Probably not. I'm so close to my family I don't think that I could be with someone if they didn't approve of them.

Yes, I would. But my family and I are on the same page on a lot of things, so if they have objections about my guy, I value their opinion and insight. You can't always see everything yourself when you have the rose coloured glasses on

Depends on if my parents were good, grounded people. If they are loving and put together themselves and of course not making judgment calls based upon race, then of course not. Sometimes parents are the people we base our "what not to do's" as opposed to our "what to do's".
