I have a 3mm skin outgrowth. It is not a wart. What it could be?

It could be a number of things. Most likely it is a benign (not cancerous) skin lesion. There are several common skin conditions that might fit a description such as what you mention. 1.) fibroepithelial polyp (also called a "skin tag"); 2.) intradermal melanocytic nevus (eventhough composed of pigment cells, it can look flesh-colored); 3.) if it is "umbilicated" (looks like it has a tiny little belly button), it might be molluscum contagiosum (caused by a virus, and can be spread); or 4.) (if near genital or anal areas), condyloma acuminata (a venereal wart caused by HPV virus).

Skin Outgrowth

If it is round and has a small dimple in the center, then it is a "molluscum contagiosum". It has nothing to do with mollusks and it is not very contagious. It is caused by a virus and it does not turn to cancer. The come and go every few months. If you squeeze it hard,(it hurts a little) a little hard core will pop out and it will go away to come back in a few months or years. It is supposedly sexually transmitted, but I have two that used to appear on my ribs. I have not seen them in 5 years.

It's probably what is known as a skin tag, which is easily removed by a physician. But, I would be remiss if I didn't recommend having it checked by a doctor to determine exactly what it is. It could be a benign or malignant tumour. But does it have a special appearance like ulcerations, milky lump with a pearl border? It should be best to check with your doctor first about it. Or it might just be an extra piece of flesh that's just there!!

Could be a internal conjoined twin, finally working its way out. Might just be the tip of it's nose. I'd keep an eye on it.
