Is it possible that settings on my computer (ie cookies) can prevent messages from being delivered?

I'm on an online dating site (Perfect Match) and I've found that , in spite of their Sent Messages page, that my messages are not being delivered. I checked with a friend who was also on the site and she did not receive a message I sent to her. I have no trouble on other sites. I have a Windows 98 operating system, with a Internet Explorer 6 browser. Please, if you have an answer for this, make it simple and step by step. I'm a novice and this is very confusing. It is extremely frustrating to find out out that I have wasted a considerable amount of time trying to make contact and it's been all for naught. Perfect Match suggested adjusting my cookies settings, but after doing that, it hasn't worked. HELP!

Sounds like either a browser or security issue. Here is what I would do for IE: go to tools and then internet options.

Click on the delete cookies button and then the delete files (check the box for offline content).

Click the security tab (top) and then click the Default Level button near the bottom if you can.

Click the privacy tab (top) and then put it on Low for the slider.

Click the Advanced tab (top) and near the bottom click on Restore Defaults. Click Apply (if not grayed out) and then OK at the bottom. Close IE completely and then retry it.

If that does not work, make sure you have disabled any firewalls like norton, mcaffe, ect. Otherwise, try downloading and installing a different browser like Firefox - http://www.getfirefox.com/ and see what it does from there.

Cookies actually help the page open faster, not stop messages.

They do, however, clog up the system and slow it down.

You might like to download and install the utilities in http://iobit.com/ to help your system run better.

    They're free!

I'd have to say that something is wrong with the site not you since you use other sites without problems.
