How do i get the shift knob off?
I have a 98 Pontiac Sunfire. Standard.....i cannot get the shift knob off for nothing...is there a special tool? If so whats the name? Where can it be found?
Ive had everyone i know turn the knob....doesnt budge. There is a slot in the front(towards front of car) that is about one inch across.

Just try to rotate the knob anticlockwise or clockwise i am sure it will open up. if not then you would have to change the whole rod, some cars come with fixed knobs.

if ur sunfire is like the '75 firebird trans/am i have then the way u take the shift nobe off is that on the very top of the nobe if theres the makers name then u must take that off and there would be a nut that u have to unscrew. or u can git it from the in side where u would have to take off ur hole arm rest pretty much to git to it and u can take it from there. if it dont work plz send me an e-mail an i will ask some one that would know 80% of what to do.
