The first thing you would need to do is apply for a visa to the Netherlands. To obtain a work visa, and immigrant status is VERY difficult. You need to show that you have a work skill that is needed there, have sufficient income to support yourself ( they will have a specificc figure), and may require that you have a job offer. It is very difficult to immigrate to a foreign country...most have very strict visa requirements and are Not SEEKING immigrants. You can go to the website of the the Embassy of the Netherlands ( listed below) and fill in the required info. Then you will be guided thru the visa application info. There is also contact info for their consulates in the U.S. You will need to contact the nearest consulate to make application and have an interview. Good luck in your research.

First of all, the Netherlands currency is the Euro. It is not the Guilder anymore. 1.00 USD = 0.745105 EUR. The exchange rate is bad for the current time.

1 USD = 1.65 NLG (Netherland guilders). Decide how much money you need to comfortably live in the U.S. Convert this to Netherland money. That answers your question. I do not know about the job situation in Netherlands.

Charlie had a good answer but also try this web site
www.expatica.com
Also they don't have guilders anymore, they have euros! $1 for every 1.34 euros.
