I guess im showing my age, but what is Emo?

short for emotional, kids 12-18 dress in all black and slit their wrists to show their faux misery and angst to the outside world. They disproove of "conformists" who dress preppy, but apparently dont realize that their doing the exact same thing, as they are conforming to looking and acting completely ridiculous.

They are basically like goths except they're usually younger and they don't fart bats or sleep in coffins. They just cry and whine all the time, even when they have nothing to cry/whine about. Also, emo kids try to act intellectual and "deep" but it's really just a show. They're so narcisstic it's unbelievable, especially emo guys. Emo girls tend to just be extremely insecure and catty, but guys are full of themselves, even when they look like total crap. They can look like Quasimodo but if they have a trendy emo haircut they think they're hot.

Emo stands for emotional. Mostly the gothic "life sucks" teenagers.

emo stands for emotional. peeps think all emo's cut themselves for stupid reasons like trouple with life, parents and friends. but really, not all emos do that. they also get labeled that cuz they listen to punk, hard core, and indie bands. they just dont wear huge baggy clothes like goths, although they dress in black and skinny jeans alot. but people think emos cut themselves FYI only the stupid "life sucks" ones do, and some of them just dress like it. I have friends who r emo and they r cool. but i also have popular friends who listen to the same music.

I have also wondered this. So some one told me that it is like cross between punk and preppy. And some say that emo guys want to look and act like gays.
