adobe reader is read-only. you cannot edit pdfs with it. you would need the whole adobe acrobat suite to edit it, or check for pdf editors on the web.

PDF stands for Protected Document File. This means it cannot be edited or manipulated by people without the Adobe Acrobat versions which you have to pay for...

Acrobat Reader is downloadable for free to encourage the proliferation of the protected document format. Unfortunately if you want to create or edit pdf files. If you really need to edit the pdf files you may consider a cheaper alternative CutePDF. It will cost around $50 which is a lot cheaper than Adobe's software, though I'm sure it doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

As the software title says, it is a reader, that is what makes it free. In order to edit most PDF files, you will needAdobe Acrobat (full version), Adobe In-Design, or Corel Draw! On modern Macs, any document you create in any app will create a PDF file by clicking on Print on the File menu and selecting the PDF button on the pop-up print window. If you are on Windows then you are looking at Acrobat (full version), In-Design, Quark Express, or Corel Draw! Each of these apps will run you about $300-$700 each. Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop Elements can open PDF files, but they translate the file to Raster (BMP, TIFF, PICT, PSD, JPEG) format and you will not be able to edit text directly there.
