Laptop ill and has weird symptoms (i.e. clock and date...)?
My laptop has been having non-virus related problems lately but I can't diagnose them. Here are the symptoms:
- it freezes from time to time but will unfreeze if I smack the base of it fairly hard.
- the time on the computer's clock is almost always wrong and sometimes the date is too
now, I know the clock thing could be a battery problem but it happens while the laptop is plugged in so... Help? Please?

hi... time to take it in for a head-to-toe. you need your cmos battery changed and i think you're suffering from heat creep. As the components heat up and cool down they tend to come loose over time. take it in and tell them what you think. they'll clean out the dust and check the connections..don't hit it anymore ..there will a price to pay..hope this helps..R.

Most probable reason seems to be a loosely connected CMOS battery. These batteries are the rechargeable ones and sometimes, they are just not up to the mark in terms of manufacturing. You might need to tighten up the battery compartment and if that doesn't help, try replacing the battery.
I would also like to suggest you not to install fancy programs which you are not sure about. They sometimes play havoc.
1. Go to the Control Panel
2. Add Remove Programs
3. Look for any sucpicious Programs
4. Consider deletng them
Note: The size of these programs generally vary from 2MB to 8MB...
