should parents go back to..........?

There is a very big difference between discipline and brutality. As someone that knows the value of a good spanking, being that I got plenty, I say yes. But remember this, avoid hitting the head, back, torso and limbs as you could break something or cause severe irrepareable damage. Basically, on the butt. Not being able to sit down has a good effect on most people. But tell them why you are spanking them. If effective, it only need be done once, and only after a sufficient warning say thrice. You can always tell the ones that really need it if you're a parent. They are the ones that "communicating" doesn't work on. So when that fails, it better to join Madea in game of "Tearin that *** up".

There is a major difference about spanking your child and beating your child. Sad to say alot of parents dont know the difference. A swap on the butt is a spanking. Now when a

parent's start to use other objects to discipline, what really is the reason. I mean as an adult you have much more strength than your child, so depending how hard you spank your child, it's going to hurt. Again parents need to watch how hard they spank there child,

control yourself when you spank you child. Why must a child be whipped w/ a belt, that hurts even worse. How about you parents that use your shoes? Or the parents that are so mad at their child at the time that give repeated beatings to get their point across. I'm not saying that I'm against spanking. I dont like the fact that people dont know the difference. This coming from someone who was whipped w/ objects other than parents hand. It's not ok for an adult to be beat w/ objects, yet some parents feel it's fine to beat their children w/ them.

Spanking children who are babies is silly - they have short memories and limited cognitive thinking skills and its really pointless. Remove the child from the problem or take the problem away but dont spank a baby - thats stupid. No I dont think spanking is effective in this day and age of educated parents - not working class half wits who thought taking off the belt was the answer to controling family members. Violence teaches violence. We now have a range of parenting methods from time out, to talking, reasoning, explaining, banning, etc. No I definantly thik hitting children is a waste of time and teaches nothing but violence.

Also whn do parents hit children - when they angry and want to vent off their anger. In my house the effective punishment is taking things away that my children like - for example no ice cream, no chocalate, no visiting friends, no tv especially their favourite programs, extra home work, extra chores like feeding the dog and doing dishes. This is very effective.

I was spanked as a child. I can say that it honestly didnt help. It just make me hate my parents more, and made me rebel more. Spanking is a cowards way out, talking to your kids and communicating what they did was wrong and why, i believe, is a more effective way. If this world had more verbal communication it would be a better place.

Yes I think so. Not abusive way of course but look at the kids today the parents have no rights and the kids are bad mouthing and swearing to there parents etc... the parents still need to have the upper hand not the kids ruleling the house.

Someone needs to be more firm with them. Some kids listen to your grounded but many dont' and you need stronger measures.
