Why Can't you people out there learn to avoid damaging your skin?

I am spending five points to make this statement, and I will never again address sunburn!! Due to increases in greenhouse gasses, the radiation we recieve from the sun is magnified, much like a magnifying glass will condense the sun's rays to the point of starting a fire. People who never in the past burned are burning now. USE SUNSCREEN, limit the time you spend in the sun. Deaths from skin cancers called Melanoma are at an all time high and are climbing. The damage you do to your skin in your youth, will result in cancer when you are an adult. Protect your children, protect yourselves or pay the bloody fatal consequences!!!!!

Update:

thank you for the information you've added to my little rant.

For those who use a tanning bed, YES, they too can cause skin cancer.

Update 2:

rockford if what you said were true then people who snow ski would never get sunburned, but they do. It is NOT the heat, it IS the radiation, both gamma and beta radiation.

I recently met a nice little old lady that I see on my bus ride home from work on some days. She told me that she has always lived by the beach.

Her legs are discolored and has open sores. She told me they look like that because she has melanoma.

I tell people that I know as much as possible to be careful out there because skin cancer doesn't happen to just older people and white skinned people.

Many people don't know that Bob Marley died from it at age 36 because he had a mole between his toes and it went undetected until it was too late.

Another thing and then I'll stop. Some people are allergic to sunblock. My oldest son was badly sunburned as a toddler because I gave my mother Waterbabies by Coppertone to her to use on him when he went to Florida with her. He looked like a little lobster when he came home to MA. He will always have to be careful in the sun. He is 23 now and loves to get a tan and I remind him and warn him to not stay out in the hot sun.

There are sun umbrellas, hats and clothing that have sunblock treated in them.

People comment on me wearing a hat all of the time. Any kind of sun can be damaging because of the hole in the ozone.

Think of it as a gigantic magnifying glass that the sun is shining through.

  • "The Canadian Cancer Society plans to announce Friday that all adults should start taking vitamin D, coinciding with the release of a groundbreaking U.S. study indicating the supplement cuts the risk of cancer by an astounding 60 per cent.

The move is believed to be the first time a major public-health organization has endorsed daily use of the sunshine vitamin as a cancer-prevention therapy for an entire population.

It follows a flurry of research suggesting the low-cost vitamin confers a high degree of protection against a wide variety of cancers. There are also striking study results suggesting that people who develop the disease often have low blood levels of vitamin D."

I totally agree with you. I had a very bad dog bite on my face that required plastic surgery. I was put into a study for sun damage. I am 60 yrs old and had no sunscreen when I was a child. I was shocked at the amount of sun damage I had from when I was a child. I had Lazar surgery on my face to try and help my scars from showing so much and that eliminated much of my sun damage on my face. It was amazing. I do stay out of the sun as much as possible and I wear sunscreen all the time. Good advice!

the fast answer is not any. Tanning beds use the comparable UV rays because of the fact the sunlight. you ought to use the tanning beds responsibly (eg beginning with short training and shifting up progressively), yet those UV rays are nonetheless going to reason injury to your dermis. Getting dermis maximum cancers additionally relies upon on what kind of dermis you have. once you're patently dark toned, you do not have as lots to rigidity approximately. once you're very gentle, do no longer probability it. You seem warm gentle, too. :)

overdoing anything is bad! exposure to sun is as essential as rest towards a tired body. a body exposed to sun will have more resistant power than a body which was not exposed to sun at all. a body which was not exposed to sun and suddenly one day if exposed will cause damage. D vitamin requirement of our body is partly met from sun rays.

It's not the sun's rays only, but the heat of the sun that damages people skin and causes skin cancer. I would not wear suntan lotion that has oil in it that further increases your skin temperature. Everyone needs some sun for vitamin D, but you should make sure that your skin stays cool and not bake yourself.
