I like my veggie burgers with vegetarian baked beans, sweet potato, fruit salad, or brown rice.

If you are a vegetarian you definitely need that whole wheat bun so please don't follow low-carb advice unless you have a health reason to do so. You get protein from whole grains!

Here's what I like to eat as side dish with veggie burgers (and I'm very picky!)...

    -corn on the cob

    -pickle spears

    -tater tots!

    -thick cut fries

    - a green salad with a whole tomato chopped into it and thousand island dressing

    -homemade onion rings!

    - baked potato chips

    -bbq beans

    -a small bowl of chili

    -avocado slices

    -macaroni salad

    -cole slaw

Not all at once, of course, but pick a couple for an all American burger meal!

Have you tried Morningstar's Vegan grillers? I like them So much better than the Boca burgers (which always taste too...bloated?...to me). Is it just me or do they taste like they were really grilled? So frickin good. I like the vegetable medley patties, too - especially wtih avocado. I also recommend Tofutti sliced American cheese - it's the best I've tried.

Lately I've been hooked on the following burger:

vegan griller w/ slice of American

    kaiser roll

    chopped up pickle

    tomato slice

    thin onion slice

Vegenaise on both sides of the bun

chopped lettuce next to the Vegenaise on one side and drizzle with thousand island

    ZOMG

That's more than you wanted to know, I'm sure. Just thought I'd share. Go easy on those burgers. I make burgers ONE night a week - burger night is always very exciting in our household.

I am assuming you mean other than making a burger. Get some vegetarian chili and do a chili burger, or as a side to the burger itself, do a salad or steamed veggies you can munch on. Other than that, might I suggest you do a portabella burger to change it up? I just grill the portabella, put a slice of non or low-fat cheese on it, lettuce and tomato, and toast the whole grain bun. It is really filling and I never need sides like chips or fries with it.

My only comment on this question is that while trying to maintain your weight while eating veggie burgers is not a bad idea, you want to be aware of the starches and carb you will taking in with the bread.

I like to make my veggie patty and add a little cheese to it. You can put other things on it like lettuce (in lieu of bread) or just do a low carb gravy to cut the carbs.

If you have to have breads you want to go for the more complex carbs. They take longer to break down so your body has to work harder. This way you are less likely to "store" any of the sugars and whatnot that turn into fat.

Baked potato... Top with Steammed brocoli

Pasta salad Made with a Light dressing

...Mac/Potato Salad made with a Lite Mayo

You can maintain your weight by eatting a normal portion

Once someone eats.. 2..3 Or More Portions thats where

the problem begins. You should eat enough

to fill full. So your not hungry later

Side salad. Also, you can make some corn or other veggie on the side. I usually also add sliced avocado to my veggie burger (better then cheese).

I put mine on whole grain bread with ketchup, mustard, and lettuce. I also microwave some vegetables, and a baked potato. Add a salad with oil and vinegar dressing, and you're set.
