When you go for your license, you need to show proof that the car you're taking your test in is insured, even if that car doesn't belong to you. If it's your parents' car, they need to give you their insurance card to show to the examiner.

What does getting insurance have to do with getting a driver license? No, you cannot get the insurance without a car, because you have to disclose the VIN, and other details to complete the policy.

Insurance companies base 99% of your premium on the type of car you drive. So trying to buy insurance without a car is hopeless. It's ok if you've never had insurance. Everybody's got to start somewhere.

let me see, can you go in get all your teeth pulled if you have dentures?

Yes you need a car to get car insurance. I assume you are a teenager since you are trying to get your license. This would mean you would more then likely be covered under your parents policy...

Of course you need a car to get car insurance. Would you get medical insurance on your dead grandma?
