Does anybody not celebrate any holidays?

I've decided that I no longer wish to celebrate any holidays, other than perhaps mothers day, fathers day, and the fourth of july, respect to my parents and the country. Other than that, for me to celebrate Chrisitan or Jewish holidays is hypocritical since I'm not Christian or Jewish. And besides the holidays are a joke in this country, it's only about gifts and money, and everybody elso seems to hate the holidays as well , yet feel obligated to celebrate them. Has anyone else given up completely on celebrating holidays?

I agree with you completely. I don't really celebrate any American Holidays. I celebrate my birthday and other birthday's. I don't like Mothers or Fathers Day, so I celebrate those on their respective birthday. All holidays (included Mothers/Fathers Day) are corporate holidays for business's to make money. That's it. Easter, President's Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving (yea, celebrate us taking land and murdering Native Americans), Christmas(no longer about Christ, about getting gifts), and every other holiday....all for money.

Did you used to celebrate Christian and Jewish holidays? I celebrate a number of Christian holidays, but I am a Christian. I think that a lot of holidays have become too much about material things and less about what they were originally intended to celebrate, but I don't necessarily think that's reason to not celebrate the holidays. I don't know a lot of people that hate the holidays. Maybe just try to celebrate the holidays for their intended meanings instead of as shoppers' days (well, not the religious ones that you don't have any ties or connections to, but you know...).

What about Thanksgiving? Celebrate the good things in your life

    Birthdays? Yours and your family's

Labor Day? Celebrate the hard work you've done all year

Memorial Day? Remember those who have died in service to our country

New Years? Celebrate the ability to see another year

Valentines Day? Show the ones you love just how much

St Patricks Day? Good excuse to drink

Halloween? Certainly not a religious holiday there

Yes this is true that Jehovahs Witness's do not celebrate any of the holidays except that of matrimony. And believe that all the holidays evolved from pagamisim and no longer hold their true meaning. I personally talk about the paticular holiday on its given day in the BIBLE, and discuss with my child the meaning of the day in question.

The holiday celebration is called Eid-El-Fitr. It comes at the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. Depending on the observation of the birth of a new moon at sunset (that's when the lunar day starts), it could be either 29 or 30 days long.

The problem with this line of thinking is that there aren't any christian holidays. Christmas, easter, thanksgiving, valentine's day, they were all stolen from pagans.

I know that wasn't the point you were making, I just thought I'd clarify that for ya.

I dont keep any christian holidays.. I am Christian but I dont keep christmas, easter etc. I dont even do birthdays.

I do keep mothers day, fathers day, and thanksgiving. Thats it. If Im dating a girl she knows she wont get a christmas present or a birthday present.

    I just dont do it

And no im not a JW. I just dont see the need. But I do keep biblical holy days.. Ie Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Unleaved breads (yes I will go a week without leavening) ect.
