Do you have restaurant recommendations in Atlanta?

I'm in Atlanta for the weekend for a family reunion. We need to find a restaurant, particularly seafood restaurants. Do you have any recommendations for restaurants? Or do you have any websites where I can find good restaurants?

Many people will suggest the Varsity...its mostly a greasy burger joint...very cheap...very popular in Atlanta...but probably not worth your time.

If you want a good burger in Atl, I suggest Vortex Bar and Grill. It has an interesting atmosphere and delicious food. Their burgers range from beef to veggie to bison and even ostrich! They are awesome if you are on a budgeted trip...most plates only cost about $8...and that includes a good sized side of fries or tots, etc.

If you are looking for something more chic and upscale for a memorable atl meal, I suggest either the The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View or La Grotta. Both are on the pricey side...but the food is awesome. At La Grotta, the delicious pastas and different veal dishes will make you never want to leave, while the beef dishes at the Sun Dial will make your mouth water. Either one is a great, high class dinner with wonderful atmosphere.

My last suggestion is another popular place in Atlanta to many locals. The Imperial Fez restaurant is my eclectic pick for you. They offer moroccan cuisine in a very exotic, yet peaceful atmosphere. The food here is also a little bit pricey but they offer 2,3, and 5 course dinners as well as ladies night every wednesday.

I would try and recommend seafood but I've never really had it in the ATL area...they aren't really known for their fish dishes...but I'm sure that there are plenty of good seafood places there.

    Enjoy your visit :)

for seafood 6 Feet Under is the best. they have one right overlooking historic oakland cemetary (thus the name) and just opened one in northwest off howell mill road. I love it there. it's not fancy but not cheap either. just good seafood, the best crunchy cornmeal batter i have ever had, good beer selection, family atmosphere, a real good combo.

for breakfast, the flying biscuit or the highland bakery or thumbs up diner though all usually have LONG waits on weekends. cafe 458 on edgewood ave. is staffed by volunteers weekends (and rarely any wait) and all proceeds go to help the homeless --- AND breakfasts are really good there (and you'll help the community).

if you want fancy, then watershed in decatur, fritti or sotto sotto on highland ave., or one midtown kitchen are all great.

I'd avoid buckhead and stick to decatur, midtown, virginia-highlands. Buckhead is overrated. Last time i went there I had to leave after a few hours of not getting served. Seems you have to be a "certain way" to get attention there.

Try The Real Chow Baby restaurant. It is a custom stir-fry restaurant where you create your own dish from tons of different ingredients. The food is wonderful, and it is all-you-can-eat. However, since it is for a family reunion, I suggest that you contact the restuarant for special arrangements (Chow Baby is VERY popular and gets extremely crowded). Hope this helps!

I don't live in Atlanta anymore but whenever I go I have to go to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen on Jimmy Carter Blvd. That place is the best, and the dirty rice is to die for....

I hope you get a chance to try it!
