Anyone own a Dodge Daytona?

Just wondering. I've been looking for some ideas (possible engine swap, basic asthetic changes, etc.) I've got a 1990 Daytona 3.0 6 cylindar, 5-speed, and I call her my "diamond in the rough". :)

It's been a while since I had one. However, you have a rare combination in the 3.0V6 and a 5-speed trans. Not too many of those were made, at least I didn't see too many of them. Most were 4 cylinders w/manuals and autos or V6 with the auto.

The V6 is an OK engine but get a shop manual and keep up on the maintenace. They like to eat valve seals and the timing belt HAS to be changed on schedule.

For performance mods, check out the local parts stores or the Internet. Direct Connection(now Mopar) didn't offer much for the Mitsubishi V6 that you have. They're hard to come by, but there are cold air intakes available and they can point you in the direction of a good muffler shop that can help with a less restrictive exhaust.

A great source for info is www.allpar.com, they can direct you even further. Good luck with the Daytona! I had an 92 and loved it!

If your up for an engine swap, the 2.2L or 2.5L four cyl Turbo engine would be a great upgrade. The base 2.2L Turbo2 would give you 150HP (same as your V6 but the 4cyl is faster). From there you could do countless upgrades to the 4cyl Turbo to build itup to 300HP+

Otherwise you could check www.forwardmotioninc.com to see what they have for the 3.0L buildup -- not much available for that engine unfortunately.

i had one as a project car for a while we finally put a 318 engine it and made it a rear wheel drive car,it was fun to drive but scary also ,it had way to much power for that small of a car,it was a lot of work but i have to admit it was worth it,we ran it last year at the drag strip, and some guy wanted to buy it when he made the offer i said yes,but if you have the right tools you can put any engine in it you want to,today we are only limited by how much we have to spend on one, good luck though hope this helps.

I recommend that you add a 2nd engine. Get the engine/transaxle /front suspension assembly from a small wrecked front engine car and put it where the rear seat is. It is theoretically possible to do this. Not only will this make the caR FASTER it will increase reliability. You look like Amy Fisher.

Look for a free catalog on summit racing or some company like that...

You can get a 700 hp engine for a good price
