Gary Coleman is too short to play Tom Cruise.

Gary Coleman couldn't play that part unless the plane was a dragon and the movie was called The NeverEnding Story. They have restrictions in the Navy about who they let become pilots. And if Tom Cruise didn't get that part who knows where he would've ended up. He didn't start acting in films until Magnolia, before that anybody could've played the parts he had.

The movie would have flopped miserably. Gary Coleman would still be doing commercial for payday loan shops and Tom Cruise would still be an annoying wing-nut.

it would not help Gary, Tom Cruise got his popularity because he is hot.. and the movie wouldn't have been so popular without a good looking leading man...........
