Then what is my Mom's cousin to me...I was always under the impression, my mothers cousins were my 2nd cousins..but I've been hearing MY cousins children are my 2nd cousins..so what are my parents cousins to me?

Actually, your cousin's child and your parents' cousin are both your "first cousin, once removed", meaning that your closest ancestor is the grandparents of one of the two of you, and you're one generation apart.
Second cousins are persons that have the same great-grandparents, but not the same grandparents.

its complicated but my mom explained it
see your moms cousins end up beinq like her brother && sisters ( highpothetically ) so uncles && aunts
blood relation is 2nd cousin
now your cousins child is your 2nd cousin becuase your cousin is your 1st cousin or your niece && nephews
Example : i call my moms cousin John uncle
&& i call his kids my 3rd cousins.
i call my cousins child Donovan my 2nd cousin or my nephew depnds
in all your still family && tahts all that matters
