What is in a hotdog?

I love how they taste but a little scared about what's inside them.

It just happens that I bought a package of Nathan's skinless beef hot dogs yesterday. Just as a matter of interest, in a national taste test survey, they ranked 2nd to the Hebrew National brand.

The ingredients are listed as: Beef, water, contains <2% of salt, sorbiotol, sodium lactate, Hydrolyzed Protein, paprika, natural flavorings, sodium diacetqte, sodium phosphate, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrate. Also contains soy and wheat.

I'm not a scientist, but the soy and wheat would seem to be fillers. All those other ingredients with sodium indicate to me some kind of salt--which explains why my feet swell up after eating hot dogs! The main ingredient is beef, but it doesn't say where that comes from, but you can guess that it's the by-products or "leftovers" of the meat not used for hamburger, steak, etc. Since these are skinless they're not using the lining of the intestine for the casing (the "tube" that holds the meat).

I'll check out the kosher hot dogs more closely next time before I buy any.

Throw it in a pot of water and let it boil for a few minutes... or toss it in the nuker for like 30 seconds. But it's not the weiner that's the important part... it's the bun! To get that ballpark quality from a bun... wet a paper towel and wring it out... wrap the bun in the wet paper towel and place it in the nuker for 15 seconds. The bun will be all soft and warm which will make eating the hotdog a heavenly experience. Mmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmm Good!!

My dad used to tell my they were made of lips and butt-holes.

    I'm sure that's not true...or is it?
