for texas, i really enjoy it! fort worth has a lot of neighborhoods...i prefer the older ones with more character. near TCU is very safe, so is mistetoe heights, arlington heights....er....stay away from the south side of I20...don't like that too much. benbrook is VERY safe. there are lots of options.

well, i don't know a whole lot about the job situation, but i feel that it's pretty good. there are so many cities around here you are bound to find something!

the people are VERY friendly. i would not say fort worth is liberal at all, but the people are very hospitable, easy to talk to, and easy going. much more relaxed and old fashioned than dallas...a lot safer too! oh yeah...i would also stay away from the east side of I35. so...avoid NE and SE.

I lived there for five years...I'm not exactly sure how I could describe the place I lived, but you can find basically anything you want there; the "starter" neighborhoods, neighborhoods with a lot of kids, richie neighborhoods, rentals, anything. I'd recommend going with the area in between Dallas and Fort Worth, so you have more career options, but you have tons of options moving into the Ft. Worth area; basically anything you want there. But definently TOUR the area you want to live before moving there, don't believe everything that realtors tell you.

But Ft. Worth is a great place to live; stick with living in the outskirts. Everyone is very nice, and jobs aren't difficult to come by with expirience.

It's hard to beat the DFW area because we have a good mix of low real estate prices and high job opportunities... therefore we have a very good standard of living...

As far as the FTW area:

Check out Grapevine... very family oriented nice area... very close to the lake (I can walk to the lake in 10 minutes)... we are right in the middle between Dallas and FTW (you can be in Grand Prairie in 15-20 minutes... straight shot down highway 360)... Grapevine Main street is very nice historically restored area with quaint shops (antiques and other things)... the city council is working hard to keep the small town feel.. the city has 22 miles of hard surface trails you can walk/bike/rollerblade on... much of that is by the lake... Grapevine high school has consitantly been on the top 100 best high schools in the nation... Grapevine has a number of wineries to visit (hence the name Grapevine)

And lots of other things I'm not thinking of right now... just take a drive up Main St. and you'll know what I'm talking about... or come for Grapefest (lots of wine tasting) or Main

You have several good answers here. Just wanted to mention that Irving and Arlington are also close to Ft. Worth. And have really good areas to live in. You have so many choices when it comes to places to choose around Ft. Worth. One area, I would avoid if I could is the Meadowbrook area of Ft. Worth. It has been several years since I lived there and it very well could have changed. Just be careful if you do choose that area. Good luck

Yes it is great here in ft worth. Some great places to live would be just south of Downtown FW, like University area (that is right off interstate 30) and the TCU area. There is everything there... beautiful neighborhoods, parks, all kinds of restaurants, shopping, people are friendly, great apartments and all kinds of different job opportunities!

I live up by Denton, about a 30 minute drive from Ft. Worth. It's more affordable to live in this area. There are jobs, and the folks are pretty nice.

You may want to look at the Denton Record-Chronicle site to see what kinds of rents and jobs are around here.

Denton(about 1/2 hour from Ft.Worth) is a safe area, plenty of good jobs, and some nice apartments.

We LOVE it here in Keller (N Ft Worth), excellent schools, near TX Motor Speedway but not too close. Most apartments around us (which there are only a few) are very new and nice.
