Need assistance with Icon for webpage?

Hey folks,

well, i have tried this out but cannot seem to get it to work. Have look at a few sites and followed the HTML code provided.

All I want is to get a customised icon/logo to appear in the address/URL bar. Currently using:

<link rel="shortcut icon"

href="http://www.mywebsite.com.au/my16X16.ico%22%3E

and i don't seem to be able to get it to work. Icon is 16 x 16 in size, i have tried using favicon.ico instead, but to no effect.

when i manually enter http://www.mywebsite.com.au/my16X16.ico I can see the logo in the browser, but it won't load automatically.

confused on this one, anyone got any suggestions?

Update:

The URL is just an example. It is not a real address.
