why did my hermit crab die????

HELP!! i woke up this morning and found 1 of my hermit crabs dead i picked it up and found that its stomach had been eaten and i see his spine. when i picked it up, i see his head dangling from the neck, ....how did this happen? i also have 2 other hermit crabs can they be affected my this too?? but i know its not food because i already fed them!!

    for more specific reasons why this happened and why crabs can kill each other. I'm pretty sure the one didn't die from a contagious disease. Make sure they have heat and are in a humid "crabitat"!

    Sounds like 1 or both of your other crabs attacked that one. To prevent this in the future make sure you are feeding them proteins like peanut butter, beef, chicken, fish, cooked pork. (Mine love raw hamburger)

    Do you have anything else in the tank that might have eaten it?

    Otherwise you might have a cannibal crab on your hands...

    They might of had a territorial Fight.
