Error message on Start-up?

Hi Guys,

I'm receiving the following error message on start-up using XP:

Error loading C:\PROGRA~\NETDOT~2.DLL

Any takers on how to remove this message? I've tried various removal applications but to no avail.

Thanks in advance,

I believe that is a piece of spyware called New.net

Whats happening most likely is you removed the piece of spyware, but its still trying to access it.

    To solve this go to:

    1. Start

    2. Run

    3. Type: msconfig

    4. Go to the "start up" tab

    5. Find the path of C:\Progra~\NETDOT~2.DLL and uncheck it.

    6. Reboot the computer

It should no longer display the error message.

You have newdotnet trying to load on your computer from an existing or old installation. newdotnet is spyware. All you have to do is remove it from the startup. start>run>msconfig>startup tab>uncheck newdotnet

Do the usual spyware removal though too. Google search for "Symantec security scan". It's free and gives you a list of infected files which you can remove by going into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly when turning on computer) If you're real good, you can put your hard drive in another computer and delete those infected files with your infected drive as a secondary drive.

    Start/Run/msconfig

now look in Startup to see if you see the words NETDOT~2.DLL .. if you do, untick the box, and then try to restart, see if that gets rid of it.

It may be the remnants of an old program, that was set to run at startup.

    Best wishes!! =)

Run MSConfig and see if RunDLL32 is trying to load that file. Just uncheck the box if you find it.
