Why do people feel the need to bad mouth McDonald's?
Every time I look, someone is trying to sue, shut it down, or blaming them for being a fat slob. I can guarantee you the meals you have at Red Lobster and Oliver Garden have as many calories as a Big Mac Meal. Is McDonald's the scape goat? What are some real reason why it should be shut down that the circumstances wouldn't apply to other restaurants.

You are right people need a scape goat, they want to blame everyone but themselves for their problems, McDonald's is easy to blame because it is such a readily available source. The other restaurants you mentioned aren't frequented as much as McDonald's, they take longer and are more expensive, so it is easier to say that McDonald's is to blame because it is much more plausible to say you eat there on a daily basis.

The same reason people go after Walmart. People want to see the biggest companies go down in flames. It helps out their ego's if they can ruin a company. I'm not in favor of mcdonalds foods because the quality is so deplorable, but your right, if you eat at a "fine dining" resturant, your going to eat way more calories and fat than if you had a value meal. I suppose the reason is that you can't eat at a Red Lobster every day because the cost of the meals are so high but you can eat at a mcdonalds everyday and some people do.

It has more to do with McDonalds being a big corporation more than anything else. Unfortunately more people are operating under the impression that big corporations are ruining our country, which is simply not the case. And because they can't go after them any other way, they choose to sue or to badmouth them. It is unfortunate that this sort of ignorance seems to be running rampant in our country. Hopefully people will wise up.

Well there's no denying that there is a problem with the eating habits of (mostly) the Western world, and the number one fast food restaurant is going to bear the brunt of that, even though not all of it is deserved. It's hard to believe all the exaggerations and downright lies told about that place that people are willing to believe. At this point I suppose people are most likely to believe anything that matches their own perceptions. Certainly is is not the most healthy place to eat, but the comments about it's cleanliness are unfounded, it's probably the cleanest of the national chains in my experience.

The documentary "SuperSize me" has people looking at fast food restaurants(McDonald's in particular) in a different light. It is not eating at restaurants that make you fat. It is the portions and type of food that do it. Everyone is trying to get a quick buck. I don't think anyplace should be shut down. People need to eat healthier.

The fact that people can not control their eating behavior is NOT the fault of any restaurant. There should not be one single, literate human in this country that does not know that eating 'fast-food' frequently ,will make you obese, along with other health problems.
That said, I do think McDonald's food is disgusting, greasy, and only eat there when there is absolutely nothing else available.

I agree with you, it is completely ridiculous. They are targeted just because they are considered "fast food" and sell such things. A place such as red lobster or olive garden as you so named serves just a fattening food.
I think one reason why they are really targeted is because they are cheaper so individuals may go there alot get fat and thus blame it on them.
However even when they do serve fattening food you dont have to buy it! Its ABSOLUTELY your choice! Plus you can no longer blame ignorance that you "didnt know it was fattening" because now they put nutrition facts on everything and have them ready for you to look at before you order.
So thus no my friends its not McDonalds fat your fault... Its yours.

I think it is because they are the largest restaurant chain in the United States, so they are a "big target" for people that want to be critical.
