Are there any good car dealer service departments ?
Everyone I know has horror stories. I'm starting to think you need a lawyer to get your car fixed. Guessing and charging outrageous amounts of money and not getting thing fixed. On the flip side. everyone I know loves their private mechanic. Does anyone love their dealer ?
Good advice James. I pay a local guy to do diagnostics and do all my own wrenching. I just hear stories about "guesswork" and the car comes home unfixed.

I guess I am the odd ball ..I think its because I know what work to send to the dealer and what work to do myself...example..if flat rate says the job is 6 hours and I look at it and determine that it will take me the 6 and maybe more I farm it out to the dealer nobody works cheap any more my advice to you is...know the shops rates per hour get a written estimate have them call you with issues they have found during the repair have them save used parts so you can see whats been replaced..ask how they stand behind there work
what you probably didn't know is that the quote they give will be based on the hours the flat rate manuel gives..if it says 6 hrs and they do it in 2 you pay the 6 good luck
