Astral projection is an 'out of body' experience. It is the experience of leaving your body and roaming around without it. People who have 'near death experiences' often say they felt themselves coming out of their body, hovering up high in the room like an angel or a ghost, and looking down at themselves, sometimes with doctors still feverishly working on them trying to revive them. Without your body you can go through walls, fly through the air, or even through space.

Lucid dreaming is when you have a dream, but you KNOW you are dreaming, so you have control over the dream. You can do things that you can't do while awake, all the things you do in dreams, but you can decide what to do instead of the dream taking you where it wants you to go.

So what is the connection? Some people experience astral projection DURING lucid dreams. They can fly, go through walls, all that stuff.

I am not telling you that any of this stuff exists. You should be skeptical of all this stuff. But I do know people who say you can learn lucid dreaming, so that's a good place to start.

I'm not sure about the difference. My father use to tell me he would travel to many places with my stepmother. That they would see things that were amazing and did this while astro traveling. I myself have never done it. The thought of leaving my body behind and perhaps getting the connection cut scares me.

I do however dream...VERY clearly and if i ever have repeats of dreams I am able to control them or change what events happen. EG. I had a dream of people breaking into a house i lived at they killed everyone of the children. Next time i had the same dream i recognized it as a dream as i was dreaming and decided to put all the children in the attic so the "bad guys" couldn't reach them. There have been many other dreams in which i was able to change the outcome or recognize my situation as a dream. I believe this is called lucid dreaming.

I agree to some degree with your fist two replies But you need to know That astral travel can take you into areas you never thought possible. It can also be difficult and harmful If you don't mind your P's and Q's. The dimensions and barriers, and what one needs to know in order to navigate without causing harm to ones own spirit and soul...More importantly..not causing harm to others that are "flying" around. I can travel with out going in to a meditation. I have also controlled dreams. But then I have dreams that I KNOW I am out there yet still asleep. Well sort of asleep. Those can be restless.:):):)

Astral projection is where one actually projects their spirit to a place. Other times it may be refered to as OBE (out of body experiance).

Lucid Dreaming on the other hand is where you are "awake" and know that you are "dreaming"; thereby still being in your body.
