How do you focus your eyes when getting an eye exam?
When I got my eye exam 3 days ago, everything was great...then when I got my glasses I found I had to use my eye muscles a little to make the lenses be focused correctly. I am getting a headach after 15-30 minutes of wearing these cause I constantly have to strain my eye muscles to focus...if I completely relax my eye muscles my glasses are blurry...she said my prescription was near what it was last time (around 1.50 in each eye with .5 astigmatism in both eyes) and hasn't changed much, but I shouldn't have to use my eyes to focus right? I mean the glasses should work in my completely relaxed state right?

well...this is complicated. you probably need to be asking your eye doc these questions.
it is possible that the Rx`is a little off. this would probably be the case if you are having to "focus" or strain to see things FAR AWAY.
but it is also possible that you are nearsighted and accommodative insufficient, which is really, really common among nearsighted people IMO. so if you have your glasses on and have to "focus" when you are READING something up close or looking at a computer...then thats totally normal. you're not supposed to be able to "completely relax your eye muscles" with your glasses ON and still see clearly up close w/o "focusing". you'll probably end up removing your glasses for up close.
there are actually more possibilities than those 2. you need to ask your eye doc...

I was once in a position to force on all of the instances while my eyes have been dilated for the duration of a watch examination. Usually, they'll supply you a clunky pair of cardboard rimmed darkish glasses to put on for those who should not have a couple with you considering your students will probably be broad open or even small quantity of vivid gentle will blind you. And, sure, your eyesight will probably be impaired to some degree. Since I'm by no means in a position to have any person force me dwelling after the examination I've located that if I simply chill out within the healthcare professional's ready room for 30 to forty five mins following the examination, the dilatory results are mitigated rather.

You may want to have the optician re-check the lenses since your prescription didn't change that much. You shouldn't be having these kinds of problems. When you have an eye exam always focus straight ahead and read as much as you can without straining to see the letters..

One thing to check that hasn't been mentioned is that the lenses were ground correctly. take your glasses back where you bought them, ask them to read the lenses blind... then compare that reading to your rx. It's possible they have the axis off just enough. If everything matches there, head back to your doc for a glasses check. Sometimes what works in that little room just isn't right out in the real world.
