Serious question about yeast infection.?
I have a yeast infection. I have only had one other yeast infection and it was from a man i was dating and was cheating on me. I am married and now I have a yeast infection. I cannot think of any reason I would have a yeast infection unless I got it from him. Besides antibiotics, (which I have not taken in a year), and prednisone (which I have not taken in 6 months) is there any other cause of a yeast infection?

Yeast can overgrow in your vagina when there is a shift in your PH. If your vagina doesn't get enoguh air, for instance if you wear jeans all the time or if you leave sweaty clothes on after the gym this can also cause a ripe enviroment for the yeast to overgrow. YOu always have yeast in your vagina but the infection part comes when it gets out of balance. Also yeast feeds on sugar so if you eat lots of sugar that can also cause a problem. Take acidophilos and bifidus to build up your friendly bacteria. Don't use perfumed soaps on your vaginal area... that should help

Yeast infections are not STDs. You actually did not get it from being cheated on or from sex at all. Your body has naturally occurring yeast and bacteria in it. Something upsets the balance and one grows wild becoming an infection.
Besides antibiotics the most common cause of yeast infections is a simple change in the balance of your pH.
It's normal and so extremely common. It is always a good idea to see your doc if you're unsure but any OTC yeast infection cure you can buy at your local pharmacy will have it cleared up in about a week. It takes the same amount of time for the 7, 3, and 1 day treatments. The difference is just a matter of convenience.

If u had an yeast infection (which is also called candida albicans- a bacteria, that can stay in latent period for years) before and it was not treated well, which happens very frequently, then this bacterias can start being active as soon as your immune system will go a bit lower. It also can get active from wearing to tight jeans, cause they make a warm and wet conditions in your perineal and vaginal area and this is what the yeast infections like the most.

You can get a yeast infection from wearing tight pants, damp undies or bathing suit, washing down there too often with soap, having a bath, all kinds of reasons. Yeast grows down there naturally, it's usually only when the pH and moisture levels get disrupted that it grows out of control as a yeast infection.

You assume that someone or something is giving you yeast. You always have yeast in that area. It is in a fragile balance. Anything, including tight underwear, douching, using a different type of soap, ect, that changes the ph of that area can cause a yeast infection. Unless there are any reasons whatsoever for you to think your husband is cheating besides the yeast, assume that he isnt cheating, and your body just isn't happy about something.

Manythings can cause a yeast infection. They are rarley STD related ( it may have been a coincidence you got them while with your ex). Yeast infections are caused by a change in the PH in your vagina. Things that can cause it is things like increased temp in the area usually caused by tight clothing or not wearing breathable materials like satin underware (cotton is the best to wear), or prolonged moisture like wearing a wet bathing suit too long. Sometimes yeast infections just happen. Over the counter treatments are usually very effective.

Sugar is a good culprit for yeast. Any kind or form of sugar. Large amounts cause the yeast to be activated. We all have yeast in our bodies but it takes something to activate it. Look at everything that you eat and cut all sugar out for a month and try a thorough detox. You can buy them at your nearest health food store. That is the only way to get rid of it. The doctor prescribed and over the counter creams only mask the symptoms. Hope this helps

All yeast infections do not come from someone else. You can get a yeast infection by just touching yourself down there. Any type of bacteria can get to it and there you go you've got one. Make sure you keep that area clean. If you masturbate, make sure your toys are always clean. If you use your fingers, you can get one by being too rough. Anyway Good Luck

It looks like you've gotten a lot of good answers.
Wanted to add that too much sugar can cause yeast to grow out of whack in your body. Also, consuming a lot of yeasty foods like breads, etc.
Yeast is naturally present in the vagina, as is bacteria. It's a delicate balance and a number of things can set it off.
