Typically, a member at large represents the general membership on issues of interest or concern, particularly those that arise outside of the standing committee structure.
The MAL conducts projects to further the goals of the organization or to develop services for the membership. The MAL could serve as chair of any ad hoc committee formed to develop these projects.
The MAL listens to membership and communicate their issues, needs and interests to the Board of Directors.

Thanks. Interesting info if true. I do not think dual citizenship should be permitted under any circumstance past age 19, nor should any foreign national be allowed to hold public office, whether elected or appointed for reasons of conflict of interest. In education, there should be only guest or visiting professors in residence. Want tenure? Become a citizen.

No. And the dual citizenship of some of these people (I highly doubt the numbers) was not a problem for you when they were in the Bush administration, yes? Chertoff was born and has lived all his life in the USA. He qualifies for Israeli citizenship but has never claimed it. His mother, who was born in Poland, emigrated to Israel and worked as a flight attendant for El Al Airlines. Israel's citizenship law of 1952 says: "Any Jew who immigrated to Israel before July 14, 1952, was granted citizenship after declaring a desire to reside permanently in Israel." Furthermore, a "child born on or after July 14, 1952," is an Israeli citizen if "at least one of whose parents is a citizen of Israel, regardless of the child's country of birth." Do you understand that? Chertoff is a citizen of Israel under Israeli law, not because he chose it. It is simply a fact of his birth. He does not even have an Israeli passport.
