Burritos tonight-how do I make healthy homemade refried beans?

I have kidney beans, but have never made refried beans.

    Nonfried Refried Bean Recipe

    Ingredients

    # 1 16-oz can of pinto beans or black beans, drained

    # 1 tbs olive oil

    # 1 clove garlic, crushed

    # 1 tsp oregano

    # ½ tsp chili powder

    # ½ tsp pepper

    Directions

    # For a smoother, softer consistency: pour beans into blender and mix until desired consistency. For a chunkier texture: pour beans into a bowl and mash with a fork until desired consistency.

    # Heat olive oil in a sauce pan over medium heat.

    # Pour beans and spices into pan, mix, and heat for 2-3 minutes.

    Serving Suggestions

    # Add sour cream and/or diced tomato for a delicious bean dip you can eat with tortilla chips or pita bread.

    # Serve with Spanish rice as a light, healthy meal.

    # Put refried beans, sliced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and lettuce in a whole wheat tortilla to make a delicious burrito.

Yield: 12 Servings 10 20 30 Ingredients Please enter valid US ZIP code Change Zip 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans 1 cup salsa 1 cup cooked long grain rice 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese, divided 12 flour tortillas (6 to 7 inches) Directions In a bowl, combine the beans, salsa, rice and 1 cup cheese. Spoon about 1/3 cup off-center on each tortilla. Fold the sides and ends over filling and roll up. Arrange burritos in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Cover and bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until heated through. Yield: 1 dozen.

    Refried beans are mostly made with Pinto beans. Here's the recipe, hope this helps,

    Ingredients

    1/2 cup vegetable oil

    2 cups cooked Pinto Beans

    2 tablespoons chili powder

    1 tablespoon ground cumin

    2 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon pepper/ paprika.

    Directions:

    1. Heat oil in 10-inch skillet over medium heat until hot.

    2. Add Pinto Beans, cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.

    3. Mash beans and stir in chillie powder, cumin powder, salt and pepper.

    4. Add more oil to skillet if necessary.

    5. Cook and stir until a smooth paste forms, about 5 minutes. Garnish with shredded cheese if desired.

    cook a bag of pinto beans as directed on the package. Once cooked, drain what you think you will need for the re fried beans and place them in a hot skillet with a little water or broth. Save the rest of the beans for another time.( for healthy, you should have made your beans plain, without bacon or whatever.) When the beans in the skillet come to a boil, mash them with a potato masher or fork until pretty smooth or chunky if that's how you prefer. Salt and pepper to taste. You asked for healthy and that's what I gave you. They would have a much better flavor however if you could use a little bacon grease when re-frying them, but that's not healthy.
