Why would you drag American flag in dirt to show pride?
I came across, a truck with big flag on little pole stuck at the back of the truck, it flew with pride as the younger driver smirked with joy, at the signal I had to stop behind him only to discover the the edges were brutaly shredded by being dragged on the road and it was dirty with mud across it. it didn't seem right... am I over reacting??

Initially the flag was ok when it was in good condition with the exception of dragging, and I'm sure the individual means no disrespect or harm. But the moment an American Flag shows signs of wear, ( Fading, Tearing, Dirt, etc.) it is time to retire it respectfully. There are tons of local groups that will hold Flag Ceremonies to retire them in an approriate fashion (i.e. Boy Scouts, Junior ROTC.) So no your not over reacting because all you did was show appropriate concern.

Yes you over reacting.
I see it in my neighborhood all the time.
People love their flag but really don't know or don't care to know the proper etiquette for displaying their flag.
.
I have neighbors who leave their flag out all night because they think the street lights constitute a light on the flag .
This is wrong, a light has to be specifically meant to shine on the flag and only the flag to allow the flag to fly all night.
.
I've seen flags touching the ground because of carelessness, and Ive seen flags dangling upside down from cars and trucks.
There is no law against it , nor should there be, but I do wish people would take the time to educate themselves about our flag.

its not right.however perhaps the drivers intentions were to display it and he wasnt thinking of what the backsplash from his tires and the wind would do to it.then again maybe he does and he is protesting.
