You get it just like anyone else. Either through a phone line, satalite, or cable. We have ours through cable (much faster, but costs more.) In our area you can get internet service through the phone line for about 10 dollars.

I forgot to add that they can use the services at the library for free. I would take my laptop there when I was in school and they have wireless connection so I could sit anywhere in the library and use the internet.

I do not know about living quarters off base. However, Air Force on base quarters are pretty good. So I would wait until you see what kind of living conditions you are going to be in before you move off base. Oh, enlisting for 6 years doesn't mean anything and has no influence on this. As far as hours worked, you are salaried so you could be working 24/7 and that's just too bad for you. The job doesn't matter. Holidays are typically down time for everybody. Even the military. Unless you are in a war zone then it is safe to assume that you will be given some time off during the holidays. Air Force basic is shorter than say the Marines or the Army but as far as the ease of the training, I think you are in for a rude awakening. The military is not Boy Scout camp. It's late nights, early mornings and lots of yelling. Congratulations and good luck!

On base? The barracks have phone and internet access. You can even get a cable connection in the barracks!

I don't know about off base. In the states you can get access anywhere off base. Net access is a little more difficult when you leave the US.

It really does depend on where they are. In some places, internet access is hard to find. However, many places run by MCCS or the USO are incorporating free wireless internet access into their facilites.

My suggestion would be to simply ask your sons, or look around on the Internet to find out how easy it is to access.

Oh! There is also wireless internet access from the barracks... I've seen countless kids sitting close to the barracks with their PSPs trying to get a connection...classic...

Same as it is with anyone else. All depends on where they are. Oddly enough when my daughter was stationed at Ramstein in Germany a phone call was cheaper than when she was stationed right here in her home state. (using 1010987 dialing). When she was at Balad in Iraq there wasn't any and she used her 15 minutes a week on the military net.

Most barracks have access now. Just as they have phone access.
