What is the correct brake fluid for '92 Ford Explorer?

    DOT 3..but look at the cap that you remove and see what it says

    As a rule, dot 3 will work fine, unless there is a tag on the fill cap saying otherwise. Be careful adding fluid, though, as if you do a subsequent brake job you may end up spilling it all over the engine compartment when you compress the calipers.

    DOT 3 or 4. Read the owners manual.

    You can use dot 3 or dot 4 with no problems..

    Adding fluid is a quick fix for a leak or worn pads or shoes. If you replace the pads you will not need more fluid.
