2400 is the new max total.

I'm a pretty average student, and I got a 1790 on the SATs last spring. I still managed to get a full ride to a good state school. SATs aren't being looked at as a full examination of a student as much as they were in the past.

When I took the sat in 1988 1600 was the highest score and I received about 1400. I went to medical school and I had a fairly easy time in college. I was told my school was not very good but overall I do not think the test truly tests critical thinking skills that can be applied to real life problem solving it is more like the same mundane things they teach in grade school. So a 10 year old doing well on this test really does not surprise me. Now the test is completely different and a score of 1200 would not be very good because the high score is 2400. I also would not expect a 10 year old taking the sat to have a very normal life considering he sounds like he is missing out on a normal childhood. Kids like this live a sheltered life and the difference in their intelligence is more a product of a overbearing parent than any actual measurable intelligence. Al thought sometimes their are child prodigies that seem to defy the reasonable levels of intelligence.

ummm well 1600 is the old scale that they used to use. but the SAT added a writing portion about 2 years ago. so the new scale is now out of 2400.
i dont know if you mean average nation wide. if thats what u mean. then it's pretty low. i know it's around 850-1000 on the old scale. not sure what it is on the new scale.
plenty of talented 10 yr olds have taken the SATs. schools allow young kids who are smart and gifted to take it just to see how they do, even though they wouldnt use it for getting into college.

2400 is the highest.
Each section is scored on a scale of 200-800. Average score in my opinion would be in the 1700s. Check the collegeboard.

just to make sparkling, the three sections are serious examining (which has examining passages and vocabulary), math (which has similarities to the previous tests, different than with Algebra 2 on it and devoid of the quantitative comparisons, and writing (wich is the recent section, and 70% of it incredibly is different selection questions approximately grammar, improving sentences, and improving paragraphs, and 30% of it incredibly is the essay). They make a comprehensive of 2400.

1600 is the max.
The median is around 1000, but changes every year.
I HIGHLY doubt that a 10-year old has taken the SAT's.

I think the highest is 1400
