What to do??
I can draw, paint and sculpt just about anything but I am stuck on how to get into the art business, or field or anything. How do you get your name out there? how do get your work seen? I'm 32 years old and I've been doing this for as long as I can remember but I've never really been serious about putting my work out there until now. Any ideas fellow artists?

i would narrow down what you want to do? first research which field you are looking into... being specific will get you far. =D it will save a lot of your time. So some real soul searching here....
fineart? I would try to enter as many shows: local, national, and international that you can. There is always applications going out. Contact galleries and get on their mailing list. This could get quite expensive... since there are application fees and shipping fees. But this would allow you to build a show list. This will be important to your resume. You might catch the eye of some galleries.. and they will want to show more of your work. Also you could sell work through this. You will need to network too...so start going to gallery openings [check with local universities]. Fine art is a hard route... i would try to go to school too.. so you can build a network base. Maybe even try to get a teaching gig. You need to be in "the art society" to function within it.
entertainment? you will need to build a portfolio. this will need to be specific to what you want to do... so make tons of work related to it. You will have to be specific about this one.. But normally the route is to send out portfolios to companies that you are interested in. Also try to pick up freelance work to expand your resume.
Both of these fields normally have conferences yearly.. portfolio reviews, recruiting, job faires.... attend! come prepared with portfolios, business cards, resumes.
good luck.

You need to first create a portfolio of your different works.Next you can try contacting an art house and see if they might be interested in any of your pieces. You can also try creating a website with all of your different works on it,you also might want to have a link so someone could purchase your pieces.Another thing you can try is put a few up on eBay,I see independent artists selling their work all the time.It might not be the best way but it might start getting your name out there.

I'm also really into art. I'm only 18 but i have seen my older sister go through the process of getting her art out there and seen. Shes always told me you have to get a job in another art area while you get yourself known. She went into graphic design and has worked her way up to having shows and selling her paintings from 3-12 thousand dollars a piece. You just have to keep going at it and be confident in yourself.
