Bad bad dreams I have been having?

Last night was the worst of them. I was running from someone through a house. I was trying to get everyone to act like they were dead so that this person would leave us alone. My husband was going to prick our 4 year old son so it looked like he was bleeding and all he had to use was a fishing hook. When he hooked it onto him his skin tore open and I could see all his organs through the slit. He wasn't crying but we were trying to make him not see it so he wouldn't cry.

I was trying to climb into a tub and look like I had drowned but the man saw me through the door. I ran and he left my family alone but came after me. When I got up to an attic like part there were viscious wolves 4 or 5 of them snarling at me so I ran to another door and when I got outside it looked like there were 3 moons. Then it occured to me that maybe they weren't moons at all and the all these meteors starting falling from the sky some REALLY close overhead.

At this point I woke up. Please any help or ideas.

Update:

We don't watch horror movies or anything gorry or scary. My husband expecially doesn't believe that anything like that belongs on TV for people to watch.

So the dream isn't in relation to something we have seen on TV

You have a lot going on in this dream! The gist of it, as far as I can see, is that you feel you have to "act dead" in order to live - which may represent repressing your emotions in order to survive in your relationships.

I think we are all the people and symbols in our dreams. So, you are your son and your husband, but you are also the threatening person, the wolves and the meteors.

You could go through and analyze what each of these symbols means to you - what aspect of yourself your son and husband represent, etc... but my overall view of it is that you, in your waking life, keep the peace at any price.

Is it possible that you don't like confrontation, and feel threatened enough by it that you will accept things that really bother you because you don't want anyone to be mad at you? If the fear of losing relationships is a real threat to you - represented by the man, the wolves and the meteors - you either have relationships with people who are very insecure (and standing up to them could very well end your relationship with them - or result in them behaving violently toward you), or you could have experienced those reactions as a child and are projecting those old fears on to your current relationships.

Whatever the bad things represent, you know that they're not going to leave you alone and that they pose a threat to everything you hold dear (your son and husband in the dream, those aspects of yourself in real life). That's why you wake up when it gets so close. That suggests to me that whatever this represents is causing you a lot of stress in your waking life.

I know of some good books that might help you sort through this. If any of this rings true for you, e-mail me through yahoo and I'll give you a list of resources.
