I looked in the manual and it does not tell me where either is located. it's too expensive to take it in to be replaced. can anyone tell me where they are?

The fuel filter on your Taurus is located in the fuel line towards the rear of the car, it is really close to the front corner of the gas tank. As for the O2 sensor, your car has 2 of them, one in each exhaust head pipe just below the exhaust manifold, it will also have down stream O2 sensors called catalyst monitors. They are located in the exhaust system just after the catalytic converters and tell the ECM if the converters are working properly.

Your fuel filter is most likely going to be along the frame rail under the car. Look for the hard fuel lines going into it.

You o2 sensor is going to be threaded into the exhaust manifold. And it will have wires going to it.

depending on the vehicle, the fuel filter will be on the frame under the drivers door on most models, the O2 sensor will be on the exhaust manifold,
