What is the procedure in replacing the ac evaporator in a 1999 Ford Explorer 4wd xlt ohc?

How long does this usually take? What is the cost with parts and labor roughly?

The evaporator case must be removed, opened up, and the core replaced. It's all under the hood but for one bolt. Takes about three hours. Probably $600-$700 roughly. With dealer parts and labor. $400-$500 with aftermarket and non-dealer labor.

  • our shop charges 700 to 1,000 dollars since you also have to flush the system and replace the dryer and orfice tube as well then recharge the system
