How appropriate is the movie Spaceballs by Mel Brooks for my 11 year old?

She loves all things geek, has seen MIB, MIBII, all of LoTR (but she read the books first), the Indiana Jones Trilogy, etc.. BUT these have less adult material than they could. AND this movie is rated PG under the old rating system that still let a fair bit of gore and adult content by under that rating. My husband and I don't remember the movie well at all and there's an event later at which this parody plays (in other words, no time to rent and watch it first or we would).

What are your thoughts? If you think it's not a good choice, give specific examples of content that may not be appropriate rather than your personal value judgments. Thanks.

Update:

Ok, as per sex references, which I know this movie has, are they the sort that goes over the head of a 6th grader?

Darn that old PG rating system. Airplane! was PG and I still can't believe kids got to watch it. Heck, there was a full-screen pair of breasts in it.

If she's a mature 11, I'd say give it a shot but be prepared for questions, as some of the jokes may not go over her head.

It will definitely be easier to explain the more risque & suggestive dialoge than if you were going to let her watch Blazing Saddles!!!

    EDIT:

Enough of the really questionable ones will go over her head, as they are double entendres: When Megamaid is removing the air form the planet & they are chanting "suck, suck, suck!"

That may blow right by her.

Most obvious scene's a parent would not like is Kate Winslet's breast in the drawing and having sex with no body parts scene except a cupped breast in a automobile. The story line is okay about a romance but so far fetched about the Titanic. As for letting my 11 year old watch it, I would hope that my child would know the differance between art and sex. Besides, most kids learn alot more in school then from a Hollywood film trying to add spice in the middle of a crisis.

This is not an appropriate movie for 11 year olds sorry there is some flash of body parts of course when Jack paints the girls portrait but some of the language and actions are not good for an 11 year old to get into

Violence wise, it's pretty light. And there's no nudity. But there is a bit of language (no f-bombs though), and some light sexual innuendo. So it just depends on how comfortable you are with that for your 11-year-old. For me, I think it's fine.

I don't recall the Yoda character ever resembling a penis. The lightsabers maybe, but since when have they not?

The best thing to do is to screen the movie for yourself and then decide if your kids should be watching it.

Well, as fair as I know, I don't find any of the scences very innapropriate. There might be some but not a lot. Its a great film have fun watching it

The whole thing is full of sexual references hence the name. For instance, the "Yoda" character is supposed to look like a big penis. It is a hilarious movie for an older teen/adult age person.

I have a ten year old and would not let her watch it even though she has knows what sex is.

Why don't you just watch it FIRST and YOU decide?
